Quick answer: between £570 and £1500, depending on whether you opt for reconditioned or new injectors and whether you have a petrol or diesel Juke.

Fuel injectors are an essential part of your Nissan Juke’s engine. They ensure that fuel is delivered into the engine to ensure efficient combustion or compression, depending on whether you have a petrol or diesel engine. Fuel injectors work by spraying fuel into the engine using electronic valves which open and close many times a second.

However, fuel injectors can fail for a variety of reasons – either mechanical or electrical issues, or even simply because the injector nozzles may have become clogged up with debris or sediment. In this article, we are going to look at how much you will pay to replace the injectors in your Nissan Juke. This article generally covers Jukes from 2016 onwards but Jukes from prior to 2016 have similar engines so pricing and labour should be similar.

First – be sure that it’s an injection problem

Before we go any further, make absolutely sure that the problem you’re facing is related to the fuel injection system. The reason we say this is that a fuel injection problem is very expensive to fix and usually involves the replacement of all the injectors – even if only one of them is faulty. The last thing you want to do is replace all your fuel injectors and not have it fix the problem.

There are lots of potential symptoms of an injection problem, and these can range from a simple “check engine” light coming up on the dashboard to constant misfiring of the engine, a rough idle, engine stalling due to running lean (too much air in the combustion chamber air/fuel mixture) or even a slow start when you turn the car on in the morning. The problem is that lots of other things can also cause these symptoms – so be absolutely sure that you have a fuel injection problem before committing to having the injectors replaced.

You should have this checked by a mechanic, and I would even go as far as to suggest getting a second opinion before you commit to injector replacement.  Even if it’s definitely a fuel issue, make absolutely sure it’s not the fuel rail, fuel pump or the fuel filter.

Diesel or petrol

The fuel type of your Nissan Juke will determine both the cost of the injectors themselves and the labour to fit them. Nissan and Renault share their range of engines – for example, if you have the 1.5 dCi diesel engine, you will find that a lot of Renault cars also have this exact same engine fitted.

Most engines fitted to the Nissan Juke are inline-4 engines with the exception of the 1.2 DiG-T petrol engine which is a 3 cylinder engine. Earlier Jukes had 1.6 petrol engines fitted which were 4 cylinders – so you need to understand which engine you have to understand the cost as if you have a petrol, it’s possible that you might need to buy either three or four injectors. As far as we can tell the only diesel engine fitted to a Nissan Juke was the 1.5 dCi (which as mentioned is a Renault unit and was also fitted to some Mercedes vehicles) which is a common rail 4 cylinder turbodiesel engine – so you will need to buy four injectors.

Cost to replace Nissan Juke fuel injectors in the UK

Below we do a deep dive into exactly what it will cost you to perform a full injector replacement on your Nissan Juke. We’ve used an average of £50 per hour for labour, plus VAT – as well as assuming the average mechanic can replace an injector in an hour and a half. We’re also not including diagnosis costs in this, which you will need to pay to understand exactly what’s wrong with your car and whether an injector replacement is necessary.

We’ve also done a comparison on what it will cost to purchase a reconditioned injector versus a new one. A reconditioned injector is one that’s been taken out of another car and refurbished to as new condition.

Generally you shouldn’t have a problem using reconditioned injectors but you should ensure you get a decent warranty on the work that’s done. Alternatively if you want total peace of mind, you should opt for new injectors, but this will be more expensive.

The prices per injector were found after some extensive research on the internet and averaging the prices we found – your garage may charge more or less depending on where they source the injectors from. Do yourself a favour and buy from a reputable car parts store – don’t go buying injectors from eBay or AliBaba or something as you are asking for trouble.

Diesel

Example car – 2016 1.5 dCi N-Connecta (4 cylinder)

Cost to purchase a reconditioned diesel injector: £120 per injector (x4 = £480)

Cost to purchase a new diesel injector:  £300 per injector (x4 = £1200)

Average labour cost to fit 4 new injectors: 6 hours at £50 per hour = £300 + VAT

Cost to replace the injectors on a Nissan Juke Diesel – between £780 + VAT (reconditioned injectors) to £1500 + VAT (new injectors)

Petrol

Example car – 1.2 DiG-T N-Connecta (3 cylinder)

Cost to purchase a reconditioned petrol injector: £115 per injector (x3 = £345)

Cost to purchase a new petrol injector: £225 per injector (x3 = £675)

Average labour cost to fit 4 new injectors: 4.5 hours at £50 per hour = £225 + VAT

Cost to replace the injectors on a Nissan Juke Petrol – between £570 + VAT (reconditioned injectors) to £900 + VAT (new injectors)

Is it worth replacing fuel injectors?

This depends on how old your car is. If your car is on 25k miles and is only a few years old, then yes, it probably is worth replacing all the fuel injectors if they have gone bad. Alternatively if you have a very old Nissan Juke with more than 100k miles on it, you might wish to reconsider spending such a large amount of money on the car and either selling it to a car dealer or a breakers’ yard.

Is replacing fuel injectors a big job?

It is a relatively big job. Most skilled mechanics will be able to do it very competently but it does take time – it isn’t something you should really attempt to DIY due to the dangers associated with working with high pressure fuel systems. If you’re ever unsure, get a mechanic to do it.

How long do Nissan fuel injectors last?

Fuel injectors should last at least 100k miles. However, if you use poor quality fuel, or your car sits idling for long periods of time, this can mean that fuel injectors wear out prematurely.

Can you drive with a broken fuel injector?

You can, but you will experience problems – for example, you may notice that your car is down on power, it won’t rev above a certain RPM, you have error and warning lights coming up on the dashboard, the car idles rough or any number of other potential issues. If you suspect a fuel injection issue, it isn’t wise to continue to drive the car any great distance – you should get it checked out with your local mechanic.

How long does it take to replace a fuel injector?

Generally a skilled mechanic can replace a fuel injector in around an hour to two hours. We’ve used an average of 90 minutes in our cost calculations above. You shouldn’t really be charged any more than two hours’ labour to replace one fuel injector.
